Back Pain

Back pain often comes down to mechanical strain, where the muscles and joints of the spine have been overworked, either from an awkward movement, poor posture, gradual wear and tear or simply prolonged sitting.

This is a pattern we see and treat successfully every day at B-One Chiropractic.

Treatment for Back Pain

Being based right in the heart of Liverpool's business district, we see a lot of back pain caused by long days at a desk, poor sitting posture, and the strain of commuting into the city.

We also treat plenty of hospitality staff from nearby venues dealing with the toll of long shifts on their feet or heavy lifting behind the bar.

Wherever your pain is coming from, we start with a full assessment to understand exactly what the root cause of the problem is.

From there we build a plan that may include chiropractic adjustments, deep tissue massage, and mobilisation techniques which gradually involves moving and stretching the spine.

All of that said, alongside home exercises and postural advice to keep you progressing between each session

Types of Back Pain

The vast majority of back pain we see is what's known as mechanical back pain, muscular tightness, stiffness or discomfort caused by everyday things like poor posture, prolonged sitting, or stress building up in the muscles around your spine. It can feel like a dull ache one day and something sharper the next, but it's usually very treatable.

Age plays a role too. Over time, the discs that cushion the bones in your spine naturally lose some of their thickness, which can lead to stiffness and discomfort. This is a completely normal part of getting older, and it doesn't mean the pain has to be permanent, there's still plenty that can be done to improve it.

In some cases, back pain is linked to a nerve becoming irritated or compressed, often due to a disc issue, and this can send pain travelling down into the leg, something you may know as sciatica. This can come with pins and needles, numbness, or weakness in the leg or foot, and it's a pattern we're very familiar with treating.

Very occasionally, back pain can be a sign of something that needs urgent medical attention. This is rare, but it's exactly why every patient gets a thorough assessment, so anything unusual is caught early and you're referred to the right person straight away.

Benefits of Back Pain Treatment

Getting on top of back pain does more than just ease the discomfort itself. As pain reduces, you naturally start moving more freely again, getting back to the everyday activities, exercise, and work that pain may have been holding you back from.

That improvement tends to ripple outward too. Better movement and less pain often mean better sleep, a better mood, and more energy to actually enjoy time with family and friends rather than just getting through the day.

And it's not just about feeling better right now. The goal is lasting change, addressing the root cause so you're not stuck in a cycle of the same pain creeping back every few months.
